"A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it, bearing within him the image of a cathedral." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery Flight to Arras
"And the Church must be forever building, and always decaying, and always being restored." - T.S. Eliot The Rock
I have been fascinated with church architecture and liturgical design since a graduate level studio at NC State in 1989 where we studied the liturgy of the Roman Catholic Church and how the Second Vatican Council affected church design from the mid-1960s onward. Since then, through my work at Terry Byrd Eason Design, Eason & Farlow Design and now at Skinner Lamm & Highsmith Architects, I have been fortunate to be able to continue designing and renovating churches. These are a few of those projects.
