"Whatever it means I meant it."

I believe the viewer brings
just as much to a picture’s meaning
as does the maker.
Nothing is preconceived.
I start with a blank canvas and add a mark.
Each stroke that comes after that
is informed by what preceded
until it’s done.
Sometimes it’s never done.
What is real and what is abstract?
These pictures are about paint on canvas
color, shape, line, texture
and how they all come together
to form something more.
They don’t represent something else
not sky, landscape, or figure.
So are they abstract or are they concrete?
